The Garden of Eden does not really qualify as a hiking trail but because it is situated next to the N2 it is a great place to stretch your legs or to take a drive there for a relaxing stroll. The walk follows over 1 km of wooden board walks and bridges across streams and is entirely wheelchair friendly and ideal for the elderly wanting to visit the forest. There is a number of wooden benches and tables along the trail to sit, snack, picnic or enjoy your ‘padkos’. There is water and ablution facilities.

The Mac Mac Pools lie south of the Mac Mac Falls. Frost-resistant hikers can test the freezing water in one of the naturally formed swimming pools or just enjoy a picnic. This is the starting point of the Secretary Bird Day Trail.

One of the jewels of northern Gauteng, South Africa, Segaia Bush Retreat offers an escape to the magic of the bush that reminds of areas far more remote. It is the perfect getaway for weary, ‘traffic jammed’ city dwellers who do not want to spend hours on the road to get to a weekend destination, but require an atmosphere of peace and tranquility combined with fresh air.
