The pygmy hippopotamus is a small hippopotamid which is native to the forests and swamps of West Africa, primarily in Liberia with small populations in Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Ivory Coast. The pygmy hippo is reclusive and nocturnal.

Hippopotamuses love water, which is why the Greeks named them the “river horse.” Hippos spend up to 16 hours a day submerged in rivers and lakes to keep their massive bodies cool under the hot African sun.
Conversing
The Eland is the world’s largest antelope. Males have twisted horns which are thick and tightly spiralled, growing up to 25″ in females and to 50″ in males. Eland belong to the same group as kudus, nyala and bushbuck.
