Unspoilt

The Robberg Hiking Trail is probably one of the most popular and well-known trails in the area and also one of the most scenic. The route is a circular trail along the Robberg peninsula with two shorter variations available ranging from easy to moderate. This is not recommended for your regular Saturday afternoon stroll or when you are just bored. However, when you’ve done it, you’ll have to agree it really is special – one of a kind. If you are interested in geology you will find it inspiring.

Striking

The lighthouse on Umhlanga’s beach was completed in 1954 and has been the subject of numerous paintings and memorabilia. Built to replace the Bluff lighthouse, which was commissioned in 1869 but had to be abandoned due to its rapid deterioration, it stands guard to some of the most treacherous waters of Southern Africa and not only warns ships of the hidden dangers, but the flashing light is also a welcome to the ships sailing into the safety of the Durban harbor.

Streak

The Berlin Falls is a beautiful waterfall in the province of Mpumalanga, an area in the eastern segment of the country that was once part of the Transvaal. These falls tumble down in a single drop for some 80 metres, or about 260 feet, before crashing dramatically into a round basin that is an irresistible jade colour. Seeing the green waters set off by the red cliffs around them is something quite unforgettable and is best enjoyed from the observation platform above. The water comes from the Sabine River, which is popular for the bass fishing opportunities it presents.
