Lujos Sekekama Trip Report
We were afforded a weekend at Lujos Sekekama, located in the Marloth Park Nature Conservancy, roughly 6 hours drive from Tshwane. The reservation process was managed very professionally and clear, personal instructions were given to ensure a pleasant stay.
We departed approximately 07:00, had our requisite stop at Milly’s for a quick bite and arrived just after 13:00. There were minor delays en-route, due to slow-moving trucks and roadworks, but nothing serious.
The check-in to obtain the lodge keys and burglar alarm remote proceeded smoothly and without a hitch.
Upon arrival, you immediately notice the small, well-tended garden. An inviting infinity pool welcomes you as you approach the front door. A Viking-sized table with benches spans the length of the veranda, which also has a built-in braai and bar fridge.
Entrance to the lodge is via a lockable sliding gate and sliding door. A burglar alarm adds security, and the property is under 24 hr CCTV surveillance. The interior temperature is cool and refreshing due to high ceilings, a huge fan, and air conditioning.
There are two main living areas, each with plentiful entertainment options. A well-equipped kitchen, adjacent dining room, scullery, and laundry reside on one side of the lodge, with two main bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms on the other side. There is additional sleeping for eight guests on the upper floor. The upper floor also has a small veranda.
Outside, a comfortable lapa is built around a fire pit with a braai to the side. A cozy garden nook has a small table and two benches. Ample parking is available.
Wildlife is in abundance and numerous bird feeders attract a lot of birdlife. During our stay, we were visited by kudus, zebras, impalas, vervet monkeys, a duiker, and ostriches. We heard lions contact calling in the adjacent Lionspruit Game Reserve. On departure, we saw several giraffes close by.
A few convenience stores and the like are located in Marloth Park itself, and a short drive to Malelane allows access to essential shops and outlets. Marloth Park is situated adjacent to the Kruger National Park, allowing entry via the Malelane- and Crocodile Bridge Gates, respectively.
Lujos Sekekama is a home away from home, with all the amenities and luxuries you might require during a stay in the bushveld. The location makes it ideal for a weekend getaway, and you will most definitely return refreshed and well-rested. The number of guests that it caters to makes it a suitable family holiday destination. Visiting is highly recommended!
